Walk Down the Aisle in White by Vera Wang

Stylequest is proud to present to you guest blogger Cheryl van den Berg from Oh to Be a Muse, a fashion, style and beauty blog.

Vera Wang Ball Gown V-neck Dress

Vera Wang Ball Gown V-neck Dress

Don’t you just love designer collaborations? The best thing about designer duds is well, everything! OK—almost everything. Designer items would dazzle us even more if they didn’t beat up our pocketbooks. So it’s always nice when a great designer, like Vera Wang, comes out with a stunning collection that we can actually afford. Vera has done it before with her collaboration with Kohl’s that features alluring ballet flats and delightful heels. Now she does it again, but this time staying true to form with a beautiful collection of bridal gowns for David’s Bridal. Her collection, simply titled “White,” is reminiscent to her usual high-end wedding style but with one small difference: the price!

Imagine getting a dream empire waist halter-neck draped charmeuse gown—with the Vera Wang signature—all for only $600. The collection ranges from $600 to $1,400 and includes 12 different gowns, each with their own sophisticated charm and style. One of my favorites from this collection is the ball gown style v-neck dress that is made with hand-cut organza. The dress features ruffles draped upon ruffles, which is perfect for a bride looking to leave a lasting impression. Another stunner in Vera’s collection is the one shoulder fit-and-flare gown. The beauty comes in ivory and is available in sizes zero to 14. The bottom-heavy gown is covered in draping and elegantly cinched at the waist.

Whether you are a bride-to-be, or just a girl who loves to dream, consider putting the White by Vera Wang designer collaboration in your sights. The dresses cost about the same as most other wedding gowns, but they are also made with that Vera Wang touch that we’ve come to know and love. And when you think about, didn’t you always dream of walking down the aisle in a Vera Wang gown? The collection debuts February 11 for special order at all David’s Bridal stores.

Start Dreaming Spring

Who else is tired of the snow and cold weather already? It’s only January, but as soon as the holidays are over I dream of spring. Why do we always have to lust after things we can’t have?! Ugh. Even though Spring Fashion week was in September, not all of us who love fashion, work, or go to school have the time to care about spring trends…in the fall!

As a little tease to give you something to look forward to in these cold weather months, here are Pantone’s hottest color picks for Spring 2011. I love regatta, a color that would be great on all hair, skin, and eye types! Silver Cloud is simple, but pretty too. I’m obsessed with the color gray. To me, gray is the new black! Yep, I said it. What do you think??

Vanessa Hudgen’s Post Break-Up Look

Vanessa Hudgens recently broke-up with Zach Efron. Many of you may know the couple as “Zaquisha,” a nickname given to them by Perez Hilton. Although, I have a sneaky feeling this break up wasn’t as mutual as it appears, we saw pictures of Vanessa celebrating her birthday at Pure Nightclub in Las Vegas the other day and we must give the girl some fashion cred. She looks break-up chic, whatever that may be! A lot better than I’ve ever looked! Inspired by her perfect-winter-and-post-break-up-outfit, here are some options you can find on StyleQuest to capture Vanessa’s look.

As Seen in People Magazine…

As seen in the December Issue of People’s Style Watch: Check out these Holiday Mini Dresses on StyleQuest

You might be thinking, “just two dresses!?” But, these two are absolutely my favorite for several reasons:

1. The sequins and color are awesome

2. Personally I prefer everything v-neck

2. There will be no stressing about arm fat in these babies (why is that always an issue with me and my girlfriends?)

3. The draping on the right one is so perfect that it can hide any tummy insecurities.

4. The shoulders on the left sequins dress are very in vogue right now. Very Rihanna or Gaga!

How to Dress for a Holiday Party: Tips by Millissa Mathai

It’s feeling a lot like Christmas and we all know what that means, pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks, peppermint pedicures and the frantic dash to find the perfect outfit for “that” Christmas party. Whether it’s an office party, a dinner with family or a crazy night on the town with the girls there are a few DOs and DONTs to keep in mind while getting dressed for winter holidays.

DO Keep It Simple Sexy
A Little Black Dress is really perfect for holiday parties. Very cliche, but always classy and fabulous. Keep the lines simple and the hem short. Wear it with opaque black tights and killer shoe-boots for mile long legs. Don’t forget to pair this simple look with one bold accessory – it is a party after all. Try a statement necklace or an eye-catching cocktail ring.

DON’T Take It Too Literally
Stay away from the obvious Holiday details. Don’t wear a Santa or light-up Christmas tree sweater. Stay away from the traditional Christmas colours (red and green). A better way to show your Christmas spirit is by wearing something ultra sparkly and glittery. Try a heavily beaded or sequin dress in silver or gold. My favourite not-so-obvious yet festive colours are royal purple and silver. If you really do want to incorporate red or green into your holiday look, do it in small doses, especially when it comes to accessories. Try a glittery red bag or red shoes paired with a short white or black shift dress.

DO Be Dramatic with Your Makeup and Hair
Christmas parties are a great time to go the extra mile with makeup and hair. One of my favourite beauty looks from the fall runways is the application of bronze eye shadow on the brow bone instead of the traditional light highlighting colour. This is a fresh take on eye makeup and it looks really chic. I suggest you use glitter shadows in gold and silver under your brows to really shine under the lights. As far as hair goes, the bigger the better. Also headbands are huge right now thanks to Gossip Girl and they’re here to stay all the way into next season. Try an up do paired with a bejewelled headband with soft eyes and a bold red lip.

DON’T Forget to Have Fun
There are so many brilliant designs in stores right now and it would be a shame to not have some fun and flaunt something outrageous. Whether it be feather detailing or extremely bright, don’t be scared to try something new. I always say, it’s better to be over dressed than under dressed and most of all…

DO try to make an effort
Have some courtesy and at least look presentable. Your host has spent much time and money to put together the party, and your most fabulous presence is required.

Sorrelli Jewelry Now on StyleQuest

I’m so excited to announce the inclusion of Sorrelli Jewelry on StyleQuest! Sorrelli, which was dreamt up by Lisa Oswald, was launched in 1983 with her twin sisters and partners, Susie and Sandy. Together the three of them named the company Sorrelli, which comes from the Italian word meaning sisters or “sorrelle.” First of all, I love the name, especially considering I also have 2 sisters, am of Italian decent, and studied in Florence, Italy for a semester when I was in college. (Best place on Earth!) Additionally, Lisa’s story is sweet and admirable.  She admits that she started to make jewelry at a young age of 8 years old! I truly admire a woman who is courageous enough to start her own business AND follow her dreams by making a career out of her passion.

Additionally, the jewelry speaks for itself! Reasonably priced and exceptionally stunning, Sorrelli Jewelery is hand crafted from genuine semi-precious stones and high quality Austrian (the other half of my heritage) crystals! Each piece has a vintage feel and unique elements. Definitely not something you can find at your regular old chain store! To top it off, Sorrelli has also created quite the buzz in fashion media. Appearing in magazines, such as Lucky, Glamour, Fashion, and InStyle; Sorrelli also frequently graces one of our favorite shows, Gossip Girl! With a staring role in the show, we have to admit we are very jealous. It is quite the accomplishment to nab a role in the trend-setting TV show!
